5 standouts from Titans’ 42-21 win over Raiders

The Tennessee Titans (8-5) look like a fully developed team as they recorded a 42-21 win over the Oakland Raiders (6-7) on the road Sunday.

Next week, they’ll take on the division rival Houston Texans in Nissan Stadium for the tiebreaker for the top spot in the AFC South.

It took a full team effort in which several players stood out, but some were just a cut above the rest.

Here’s a look at some of those names.

1. QB Ryan Tannehill.

We’ve heard plenty about Tannehill’s inconsistencies in the past, but he’s kept his foot on the gas since he’s been the starter in Tennessee.

Tannehill had yet another huge game, completing 21-of-27 passes for 391 yards with three touchdowns and one interception while distributing the ball to 10 different receivers.

2. CB Tye Smith.

When key pieces are missing, you have to reach down the roster and count on players to step up. Smith has done just that, forcing a fumble in back-to-back games.

He was also a leader on defense, with eight combined tackles on the victory.

3. LB Jayon Brown.

Smith may have forced the big second-half fumble, but it was Brown who took it to the house to extend the Titans’ lead to a comfortable 42-21.

He finished the game with a total of six tackles.

4. RB Derrick Henry.

Henry wasn’t in for the entirety of the game, dealing with an injury, but still made a huge difference in its outcome.

Henry carried 18 times for 103 yards and two touchdowns. This marks four 100-yard contests in a row for the former Alabama rusher.

5. WR A.J. Brown.

Hardly any other rookie has impressed quite like Brown has.

The wideout came up with a huge 91-yard reception in the first half, and finished out the game with five receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns — far and away the Titans’ leading receiver.

He also had a carry for 13 yards.
