After a long (and bloody cold) winter, the warmer weather is finally making itself known, and there’s nothing like the changing of the seasons to introduce a new fashion trend or two. According to stylist Jade Leung, it’s looking like this spring-summer will see evolutions of the sports styling trend, bold bags (sorry, Labubu haters), and layering (particularly with a sheer skirt or two). We already know that prints are making a comeback, with polka dots and stripes taking over Pinterest boards and Instagram feeds. For the rest, we asked Leung to give us her two cents on the biggest fashion trends coming this spring.
The 5 Spring Fashion Trends To Embrace In 2025
1. Colours, Patterns & Individuality
According to Jade, there’s going to be a lot more individuality this spring in terms of colours and patterns, particularly when it comes to accessorising.
“[The] Celine [ready-to-wear] 26 show reminded us how the power of a simple silk scarf can transform your outfit,” she said.
Silk scarves have already been trickling their way into the fashion zeitgeist, with fashion creators wearing them as makeshift belts to add a pop of colour to their pants, as hair accessories, or tied around a bag for a lil extra somethin’-somethin’.
In terms of colour, Jade said she’s been seeing a lot of brown suede and wispy pink.
“I’m feeling like bold orange will be seen a bit too in accessories. Think double laces in sneakers, mixing orange and white against a brown suede sneaker.”
2. Bold Bags
This season in bag land, more is more. From shoulder bags decked out in Labubus and other bag charms to bold colours and Western fringing, bags aren’t just practical this season — they’re a statement.
“I’m excited to see choices in bags, with lots of personality and flare,” Jade said.
“This might be controversial, but I say the bag charm lives on! This spring I’m obsessed with the lip tint charm by Entropy.”
And thank God for that, because I’m not getting rid of my charms any time soon.
3. Sports Styling
“This spring we’ll continue to see sports styling incorporated into looks,” Jade told PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“Football jerseys (yes I’m still thinking about that Acne Studios one) styled over collared shirts, rugby tops layered and tucked into very short shorts.”
Hey, if I can wear Adidas trackies with a trench coat and call it sporty-chic, I’ll take that as a win.
4. Low Profile Sneakers
Jade said that instead of chunky sneakers being the dominating shoe this season, brands are keeping it a little more low key.
“My go to this Spring is definitely the New Balance 204 — made popular by the Miu Miu collaboration,” she said.
So, you can keep on rocking your Adidas Sambas and Spezials, folks.
5. Layering
Layering has definitely been gaining popularity over the past few seasons, and we’re only going to be seeing more and more of it this spring.
“Think layered knits, sheer skirts over pants and stockings, layered shirts, perhaps topped off by an oversized windbreaker for those unpredictable spring days,” Jade said.
I’ve been dying to try styling a sheer maxi dress over trousers for yonks now, so this is the perfect excuse to give it a go.
This upcoming spring-summer, it’s very much giving the theme ‘more is more’ — and we’re so here for it.
