5 shot Wednesday in Chicago

Five people were shot Wednesday in Chicago, including a teenage boy who was seriously wounded in in Altgeld Gardens on the Far South Side.

The boy, 16, was standing outside about 10:15 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots at him in the 13100 block of South Ingleside Avenue, Chicago police said. He was struck in the chest and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious condition.

A man was shot in Austin on the West Side. The man, 30, was outside about 5:50 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots at him in the 700 block of North Pine Avenue, police said. The man was struck in the buttocks and taken to Community First Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

About an hour prior a man was shot in West Pullman on the South Side. The 30-year-old was driving west about 4:30 p.m. in the 500 block of 115th Street when another vehicle pulled next to him and someone from inside fired shots, police said. He was struck in the arm and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

A man was in good condition after he was shot Wednesday morning in the Logan Square neighborhood. The 35-year-old was shot in his foot while sitting on a porch about 7:25 a.m. in the 1800 block of North Drake Avenue, police said in a statement. He was taken to Humboldt Park Health, formerly known as Norwegian American Hospital.

In the day’s first reported shooting, a 25-year-old man was shot in Englewood on the South Side. About 5 a.m., he was walking in the 7200 block of South Marshfield Avenue, when he was shot in his right ankle, police said. He was brought to Christ Medical Center in good condition.

Three people were shot Tuesday citywide.
