5 Seahawks stories from the last week for Cardinals fans to know

As another week of the offseason has passed, it is time to take a look around the NFC West to see what has been going on with the Arizona Cardinals’ division rivals. Let’s check out what has been going on with the Seattle Seahawks.

These are the stories from the last week that Cardinals fans should know.

Seahawks tried to woo Peyton Manning in 2012

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Back in 2012 when quarterback Peyton Manning was a free agent, the Arizona Cardinals tried to sign him. He ultimately signed with the Denver Broncos, set records, went to two Super Bowls and won one.

It was learned this week that back in that offseason Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll flew to Denver to try and get Manning to join Seattle.

That would have changed a lot of things. They signed Matt Flynn that offseason and drafted Russell Wilson, who won the starting job and became one of the best QBs in the game.

Had Manning signed with Seattle, maybe they don’t draft Wilson and, even if they do, he doesn’t win the starting job.

The Cardinals announced the specific dates and times of their preseason games more than a week ago. The Seahawks released their specific preseason schedule last week.

Seahawks sign RB Carlos Hyde

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

The Seahawks added another running back to their room. It is a familiar face to Cardinals fans. They signed Carlos Hyde, who originally was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers. He joins a running back room of Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny and C.J. Prosise.

Bruce Irvin returns to original role with Seahawks

 Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Irvin was originally drafted by the Seahawks before stops with the Oakland Raiders and Carolina Panthers. He rejoined the Seahawks this offseason and will play the role he had when he began his career. He will play outside linebacker (SAM) in base downs and move down to the edge at defensive end in passing downs.

Russell Wilson wooing Antonio Brown

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

Receiver Antonio Brown is not on any team right now after his antics last year, getting traded from the Steelers to the Raiders, getting cut by the Raiders and getting signed and cut by the New England Patriots.

However, despite the headaches he has caused, many star players still want him as a teammate. According to John Clayton, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is trying to recruit Brown to Seattle.
