5 Seahawks stories from last week for Cardinals fans to know

With another week of the offseason in the books, it is time again to go around the NFC West to see what is going on with the Arizona Cardinals’ division rivals. What has been going on with the Seattle Seahawks?

Here are the stories from last week that Cardinals fans need to know.

Cardinals fans are very familiar with this storyline. He comes into the offseason and looks great in practice, moving well and adding something to the offensive line. Then he gets hurt.

Now a member of the Seahawks, it has happened again. There were great early returns on his play and talent but suffered a sprained foot on the final day of OTAs, causing him to miss minicamp.

He finished each of the last two seasons on injured reserve.

Cardinals aren’t top rival of Seahawks?

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

Cardinals fans would probably say the Seahawks are one of their top rivals. Apparently, Seahawks fans would not say the same about the Cardinals. In a list of the top five rivals for Seattle on Seahawks Wire, the Cardinals don’t even crack the top five or even get honorable mention. Considering no other team has had the success the Cardinals have had in Seattle, this seems odd.

Paxton Lynch, Geno Smith in heated backup QB competition

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

While Russell Wilson is the man in Seattle as the starting QB, the Seahawks need a new backup, as Brett Hundley signed with the Cardinals in the offseason. Geno Smith and Paxton Lynch are battling and the competition is going well. Not that it matters for Cardinals fans because if either ends up having to start for the Seahawks, that is good for Arizona.

Ziggy Ansah’s shoulder healed but Seahawks taking it slow

 Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

The Seahawks added a key pass rusher in the offseason in Ezekiel Ansah but he was coming off a should injury. His shoulder is apparently completely healed, but the Seahawks are taking no chances and have a plan to bring him back slowly so he is healthy for the regular season.

Mingo will have a slight change to his role in Seattle because of the return of their linebackers. He will be expected to be more of a pass rusher than he was last season, although that is what he was expected to become when he first entered the league.
