5 reasons why the Jets on ‘Hard Knocks’ would make for amazing TV

There’s no denying that the Jets are an intriguing option to appear on the hit television series “Hard Knocks” this offseason.

With alpha personalities both on the roster and coaching staff, a young quarterback and the possibility of some high-profile names joining the team this offseason, New York would certainly make for good television. However, the Jets are more concerned with winning than appearing on camera this summer. Fans who enjoyed watching the team on the show in 2010 should not be getting their hopes up for a repeat performance. While the show has expressed interest in Gang Green, according to The Daily News, the feeling is not mutual.

Still, the idea of the Jets appearing on “Hard Knocks” got us thinking about why they would appeal to the show.

Jamal Adams trying to steal the show

Whenever a camera is around, Jamal Adams is not far behind. The LSU product has the personality and bravado that the “Hard Knocks” crew dreams of when it evaluates which teams would be good for the show.

From his social media presence to his bubbly demeanor and talkative tendencies, Adams would be the star of the show. His interactions with his teammates and the coaching staff would become must-see TV. It would also be interesting to see how he gets along with a new regime behind the scenes.

New York has plenty of intriguing personalities on its roster, but Adams is far and away the star of them all. His presence alone is reason for “Hard Knocks” to be interested in Gang Green.

Rex Ryan made headlines with his affinity for profanity when the Jets were on “Hard Knocks” in 2010, but Adam Gase takes profanity-laced tirades to a whole nother level.

According to former players, Gase’s sentences are filled with F-bombs and other words that are not suited for a PG crowd. As New York’s head coach, Gase will be doing most of the talking and Jets fans would get to see how he goes off the rails with his cursing.

Other than Gase’s profanity-happy ways, it would be interesting to see how he operates in his first training camp with the Jets. New York is looking to make it back to the postseason with Gase at the helm and comparing how he does things to how Todd Bowles used to do things would make for an intriguing storyline.

Williams is no stranger to “Hard Knocks,” as he has appeared on the show with the Los Angeles Rams and then the Cleveland Browns this past offseason. New York’s first-year defensive coordinator is comfortable in front of the cameras and will go about his business as if they are not there.

Like Gase, Williams is a high-intensity guy who will turn to profanity to get his point across. Williams is not going to stray away from his brash way of coaching just because a camera crew is around. What you see is what you get out of the veteran defensive coordinator.

Much has been made about the impact he will have on defenders such as Jamal Adams. Imagine watching those two on camera together? That’s the definition of quality content.

An inside look at Sam Darnold

Sam Darnold is the polar opposite of Jamal Adams, which might make him the most intriguing player for the cameras to follow around.

Darnold is relatively quiet and keeps to himself. His focus is on his craft and taking his game to the next level, not becoming a celebrity. If “Hard Knocks” came into town, the USC product would be thrust into the spotlight, whether he likes it or not.

Getting an inside look at what makes Darnold ticks would keep Jets fans glued to the screen. By the end of it all, chances are they come to realize he is a pretty cool guy who is all football, all the time.

The intrigue of potential big-time offseason acquisitions

Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

If the Jets somehow manage to land either Le’Veon Bell or Antonio Brown this offseason, you can bet “Hard Knocks” will do everything in its power to convince the organization to let them come to Florham Park for the summer.

Bell and Brown have been the talk of the offseason with free agency approaching and Brown’s recent trade request. New York is in play to land one, if not both, of the dynamic duo that made Pittsburgh’s offense nearly impossible to stop in recent years. With Bell sitting out the 2018 season and Brown bringing along plenty of baggage, either player would make for good television.

There are other big-name players that the Jets could bring in this offseason, but none will draw viewers like Bell and/or Brown would. New York is intent on adding weapons around Sam Darnold and it just so happens some of those weapons may be well-suited to appear on the show.
