It is time of the week to check in during the offseason and see what is going on with the rest of the NFC West. What has been new with the Los Angeles Rams, who like the Cardinals were kept out of the postseason?
Here are some of the stories Cardinals fans should know about.
Rams move on from Wade Phillips, hire new DC

After three seasons, head coach Sean McVay decided not to renew defensive coordinator Wade Phillips’ contract. They replace him with former Denver Broncos outside linebackers coach Brandon Staley. It appears they will remain in a 3-4 defensive scheme.
Rams make changes to offensive coaching staff

McVay, in addition to hiring a new defensive coordinator, made changes to the offensive staff. They let go of running backs coach Skip Peete and then added an offensive coordinator, former Washington Redskins OC Kevin O’Connell. McVay had gone without an OC for three years.
Multiple players have offseason surgery

A number of players elected to take care of injuries with offseason surgeries.
Left tackle Andrew Whitworth had a procedure on his right ankle.
Safety Eric Weddle had the first surgery of his entire NFL career. He underwent surgery to repair a meniscus in his knee.
Interior lineman Austin Blythe had surgery on both his shoulders.
Rams sign players for 2020

Like the Arizona Cardinals did after the season, the Rams signed players from their practice squad during the season to contracts for 2020. L.A. brings back nine such players. Check out who they are.
Todd Gurley chugs a beer at a hockey game

Since it is the offseason, this isn’t a big deal. Gurley attended an L.A. Kings hockey game and chugged a pair of beers, got a Kings sweater and took some pictures.
