Nelson Agholor was a first-round pick of the Eagles out of USC five years ago, and he entered the league as a ballyhooed athlete and elite Trojans prospect.
Five years later, Agholor has likely played his last game with the Eagles as free agency is set to start in less than three weeks.
Agholor has speed, has played in huge games throughout his career and could channel a change of scenery into some big-time performances.
With Agholor likely on the move shortly, here are five potential landing spots for him in free agency.
***
1. Kansas City Chiefs
It’s a familiar system, he could end up switching spots with Demarcus Robinson and Patrick Mahomes has the ability to make anyone look good. Agholor may struggle with tracking the football, but Mahomes will get it to you on the run, and YAC is something Nelson does well.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Another potential trade-off of explosive athletes, the Eagles have mentioned as possible suitors for Breshad Perriman, and Agholor could easily take his place in the slot while posting monster numbers thanks to all the attention that Mike Evans and Chris Godwin receive from opposing defenses.
If Jameis Winston returns, Agholor will never have to worry again about his signal-caller not trusting him enough to force him the rock.
3. Seattle Seahawks
For Agholor it’s all about finding a quarterback who can trust him and make him better and who better in the entire NFL, than Russell Wilson? Wilson has some weapons, but only Tyler Lockett has Agholor’s ability to wiggle and display shiftiness on the move. Wilson’s Midas touch even helped rookie DK Metcalf emerge with 58 catches for 900 yards and seven touchdowns. Similar to the situation in Tampa, Lockett, Metcalf and the recently signed Greg Olsen could allow Agholor to flourish.
4. San Francisco 49ers
A move back to the west coast and his early roots could be just the change Agholor needs. The 49ers reached the Super Bowl on the strength of timely play-calling from Kyle Shanahan, a star tight end a rugged running game. Even with Emmanuel Sanders possibly returning, the 49ers can still use a guy that has the ability to be a homerun threat at times. A one-year prove-it deal could be in the works for Agholor in the Bay Area.
5. Indianapolis Colts
Franch Reich has seen Nelson at his best, as an assistant coach of the Eagles and former Philly offensive coordinator, Mike Groh is now coaching his position. Reich knows where Agholor likes the ball and he could end up catching touch passes from Phillip Rivers.
