5 players released by Rams claimed off waivers

The Los Angeles Rams knew they would have to cut some seriously talented players, and based on the waiver claims Sunday, that much was true. Teams were very interested in guys the Rams decided to release, with many of them being claimed off waivers.

We’ll be tracking all of the former Rams who landed with other teams here. As of now, five players were claimed on the waiver wire.

Not surprisingly, they were many of the tougher decisions made by Los Angeles, including two surprise cuts: John Franklin-Myers and KhaDarel Hodge.

QB Brandon Allen: Broncos

CB Kevin Peterson: Cardinals

WR KhaDarel Hodge: Browns

S Steven Parker: Dolphins

DE John Franklin-Myers: Jets

As a result of these five players being claimed off waivers, they obviously won’t be signing to the Rams’ practice squad. Peterson, Hodge, Parker and Franklin-Myers certainly seemed like players the team wanted to keep around.

With so many former Rams being claimed by other teams, it’s a testament to the depth and talent Los Angeles had on its 90-man roster. Good teams are forced to cut good players, which was exactly the case for the Rams.

Los Angeles can begin assembling its initial practice squad Sunday. The limit for the practice squad is 10 eligible players. For more information, check out our guide here.
