5 pending free agents the Eagles should re-sign

The Philadelphia Eagles have some difficult decisions to make in regards to who stays and who goes once the impending free agency period begins. The Eagles are at the bottom of the league when it comes to available cap space, and with glaring needs on both sides of the ball, Howie Roseman has to be diligent in determining who to bring back to the roster, while not overpaying for depth.

Here are five Eagles free agents that Howie Roseman should bring back:

Jordan Matthews

After being signed midway through the season, Matthews managed 20 catches for 300 yards during the regular season and made a few big plays in the playoff game vs. the Bears.

Jordan Hicks

Hicks can be a dominant middle linebacker when healthy but he’s spent just as much time in street clothes during his four-year career. Talented and versatile linebackers are coveted around the league right now, and Hicks could come back to the linebacker-needy Eagles for the right price.

If the Eagles don’t draft a speedy wide receiver or find one in free agency, then bringing Wallace back on the cheap could pay dividends. Wallace, 32, is familiar with coach Doug Pederson’s system.

Nate Sudfeld

Sudfeld will be a restricted free agent and the Eagles will likely tender him at a second-round rate. In three preseason games last season, Sudfeld completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 524 yards, five touchdowns, three interceptions, and an 85.6 passer rating. The highlight of his preseason was a 312 passing yard performance against the Patriots, the most for an Eagles quarterback since preseason stats were kept in 2000. Sudfeld’s three touchdown passes were the most for an Eagles quarterback in a preseason game since Donovan McNabb in 2005. Expect Sudfeld to be Carson Wentz’s backup in 2019.
