5 other teams wanted LB Tanner Vallejo

The Arizona Cardinals were awarded a waiver claim on former Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills linebacker Tanner Vallejo on Tuesday. They weren’t the only team to want him, though.

According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, a total of six teams placed a waiver claim on the 24-year-old former sixth-round pick. In addition to the Cardinals, the New York Jets, New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Chargers all wanted him as well.

Because they finished 3-13, which was the worst record in the league, the Cardinals will be No. 1 on the waiver claim list all offseason. They will have priority over every team when claiming players.

Vallejo hasn’t done a lot in the league yet, but he is young and has two years remaining on his rookie deal with no guarantees.

If the Cardinals play things right with waiver claims, they should be able to improve their roster without having to compete with other teams for those players.
