Thrill-seekers don't need to go abroad this summer to find once-in-a-lifetime experiences, Scotland has plenty to offer when it comes to adventures.

And we aren't just talking about bagging Munros or enjoying a lovely spot of wild swimming, there are even more unique ways out there to raise the heartbeat a little.

For adventurous families, daredevil couples or those flying solo, there activities all over the country that will definitely settle the itch and offer a dream day out.

The ideal way to make some memories, here are some of the best outdoor adventure days out to try out this summer.

Land Yachting, St Andrews

Land yachting can be great fun for all the family (Daily Record)

Scotland has an incredible coast, and one of the best ways to navigate the golden beaches is with a exhilerating land yachting experience.

Combining the grace of sailing with the buzz of motor racing, the sessions by Blown Away Experiences allow you to race each other around St Andrews’ gorgeous West Sand beach.

The activity is perfect for everyone over the age of 12, however, they also twin yachts in their fleet for children aged 5 – 12 to sit in as a wingperson and experience the fun.

Coasteering

Another way to explore the coastline is by donning your wet suit and heading to Oban where you can venture out with top professionals and combine climbing and cliff jumping.
Coasteering is a fun activity (run by Vertical Descents ) where you climb along the coastal rocks, and explore caves and gullies and right into the sea.

All you need to have is the ability to swim and a love of adventure and VD will do the rest.

Wild Shore, Dundee

The Inflatable park at Wild Shore Dundee (Wild Shore Dundee)

Part of the rejuvenation of Dundee's waterfront, Wild Shore is a water-based adventure hub that's filled with fun activities.

These activities range from Open Water Swimming to Wakeboarding and Stand Up Paddleboarding but our pick of the bunch has to be Aqua Park.

The floating Aqua Park obstacle course is great fun for children (from age 6+) and adults alike.

Zorbing, various locations

A land of hills and mountains making it the ideal place for the new inflatable ball sport known as zorbing.

Participants strap into a 12-foot inflatable ball before rolling down a hill at a great speed.

It's fun, exciting and will have you running up hills for another go.

Microlight (mini planes) experiences, Strathaven

Ever dreamed of learning to fly? Well training on a microlight could be the answer, the small two seater aeroplane is a great way to take to the air.

These 'motorbikes of the air' are a great way to work towards getting your very own pilot’s licence, while also being able to explore Scotland from the sky.

The fun hobby is relatively inexpensive too, you can find out more from Microlight Scotland, who are based at Strathaven near Glasgow.
