Five Metra lines will operate under changed schedules beginning Sept. 3.
The UP Northwest and BNSF Lines will adopt the schedules tested since June; the Rock Island, Heritage Corridor and UP West lines will undergo smaller changes.
The UP Northwest Line will have more inbound and outbound trains added on the weekends and holidays, as well as new express trains to and from Arlington Heights.
The BNSF Line will have a train added in each direction on the weekends. One of the evening trains, which stops at Fairview Avenue at 5:30 p.m., will add a 6 p.m. stop at Aurora.
The stop times of the Heritage Corridor Line’s three morning inbound trains will be adjusted. The trains’ departure times, however, will not change.
In lieu of the Saturday pilot trains on the Rock Island Line, a new train will depart from LaSalle at 10 p.m. on Saturdays and make all stops along the Beverly Branch and mainline.
The Rock Island Line Saturday trains might be reintroduced next summer, Metra said.
Eleven trains on the UP West Line will depart Elburn, Elmhurst and Ogilvie at different times. One train, for instance, will depart Elburn at 10:25 a.m. instead of 10:18 a.m.
