While the Jets are not going to set the fantasy football world ablaze in 2020, they have a few players who could be contributors.
New York’s players are largely looked at as last resort options in fantasy football due to the team’s consistent offensive struggles. However, with multiple players poised for breakout years, there should be some Jets worth considering when fantasy football players are compiling their teams.
With that said, here are five Jets who could be impact fantasy players for the 2020 season.
QB Sam Darnold

While Sam Darnold probably won’t be starting in a one-QB league, he is certainly a viable option as a bye-week fill-in.
Darnold averaged 13 fantasy points per game in 2019, according to FantasyData.com. While Darnold was able to ride an offensive high in wins against the Cowboys, Giants, Redskins and Raiders, his season average was weighed down by his abysmal performance against the Patriots on Monday Night Football.
Behind a remodeled offensive line and with new weapons in the fold, Darnold could have a breakout year, which fantasy football experts were predicting prior to the 2019 season.
RB Le’Veon Bell

Le’Veon Bell was a popular first-round pick in 2019. Returning from a season-long hiatus, fantasy players expected Bell to return to his Pittsburgh form, where he was a high-producing player.
That proved to be anything but the case, as Bell endured the worst statistical season of his career. Even though Bell’s fantasy stock has certainly plummeted since he last took the field, he has something to prove — that the 2019 season was an anomaly.
The Jets put in extra stops during their virtual offseason meetings to make certain that the run game won’t be the disaster it was in 2019. With a new and improved offensive line, Bell should be more productive.
WR Jamsion Crowder

No Jet was a more consistent fantasy contributor in 2019 than Jamison Crowder.
New York’s new addition to the slot made an immediate impact. Crowder finished his first year with Gang Green with 78 receptions for 883 yards and six touchdowns. Crowder will likely again be Sam Darnold’s No. 1 option, meaning he should be a respectable fantasy sleeper who can be a dependable starter in league’s that use points per reception scoring.
TE Chris Herndon

After breaking onto the scene during his rookie season, Chris Herndon figured to be a sleeper at the tight end position once he returned from his four-game suspension last season.
Then, a hamstring injury prolonged Herndon’s debut. When he finally returned to action for his first game of the 2019 season, he fractured a rib and was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.
After a lost sophomore season, Herndon should be looked at as a sleeper target in deeper leagues. During his rookie campaign, Herndon hauled in 39 passes for 502 yards and four touchdowns. If healthy, Herndon should be able to return to his rookie form, especially when considering his chemistry with Sam Darnold.
WR Breshad Perriman

Breshad Perriman was a fantasy afterthought in 2019 until Mike Evans and Chris Godwin were out of Tampa Bays’ starting lineup. Proving to be an excellent deep threat for Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers, Perriman finished his 2019 season with 36 catches for 645 yards and six touchdowns.
When considering fantasy players, Perriman is the biggest wildcard for Gang Green, mainly because he’s never been able to produce a full season of what he did down the stretch in 2019. His value should be based on whether he can properly replace Robby Anderson, a player who he has an extremely similar skillset to.
Perriman figures to go undrafted in most fantasy drafts, but he could be a free agent sleeper if his abilities as a deep threat are utilized in New York.
