The Philadelphia Eagles will look to move above .500 on the season when they host the winless New York Jets. The Jets (0-3) are down to their No. 3 quarterback, only have one offensive touchdown in three games and are winless against the Eagles in 10 games.
The Jets can’t be overlooked and a slow start by Philadelphia could give gang-green all the confidence they need. With the Eagles trailing the Cowboys by one game and facing three straight road contests, here are five Jets the Birds must gameplan for.
Le’Veon Bell
Bell signed a $52 million contract to join the Jets following a year-long holdout in Pittsburgh, but he’s struggled out of the gate because the Jets have no help around him. He has just 163 yards rushing on the year, averaging 2.9 per carry with no touchdowns. Still a great dual-threat, he has 20 receptions for 121 yards and one touchdown.
Jamison Crowder
Crowder is tied with Bell for most catches on the Jets with 20 for 121 yards and a TD and because of the Eagles struggles against the pass, he could be looking at a huge outing on the outside.
C.J. Mosley
Mosley has been dealing with a nagging groin injury, but when he’s healthy, the Jets middle linebacker is one of the best in the business. According to the New York Daily News, Mosley is still not able to cut or change directions after missing the fourth quarter of the Jets’ season-opening loss to the Bills.
Jamal Adams
Adams is a big, physical safety with 4.38 speed who can cover receivers, tight ends and play up in the box against the run.
Leonard Williams
Williams still looking for the first sack of the season. A solid player who hasn’t lived up to his first-round draft status, Williams is durable and versatile in that he can play multiple positions on the defensive line. He’s struggled as of late, producing only one sack in his past 14 games and just 17 in his 67-game career.
