A man is in critical condition after a “physical altercation” Sunday in Uptown on the North Side.
A man and woman, 24 and 22, were involved in the altercation with a man and woman, 20 and 19, about 6:30 p.m. in the entryway of a residential building in the 4500 block of North Sheridan Avenue, Chicago police said.
The 24-year-old man received multiple blows to the head and was rushed to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where he is in critical condition, police said. The 22-year-old woman also suffered multiple blows to the front of her head and was bleeding from the back of her head as a result of the fight. She was also taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where her condition was stabilized.
The other man involved in the fight, 20, received minor scrapes and was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said. The other woman, 19, was cut on her chest and hand and taken to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center where her condition was stabilized.
Details about the nature of the altercation or if weapons were involved were not made available by police
Area North detectives are currently questioning the 20-year-old man and the 19-year-old woman, they are thought to be the aggressors in the altercation, police said.
