The New York Giants’ roster is pretty thin and needs an infusion of talent. That doesn’t mean they should simply let all of their own free agents walk and rework things with an entirely new crop.
Some of the team’s impending free agents are worth re-signing, like these five:

Markus Golden, linebacker
Duh. Golden, if not ridiculously priced in free agency, should be brought back. It might be difficult to reel him back in now that James Bettcher is gone and the Giants haven’t quite revealed what their defensive strategy is. Golden led the Giants with 10.0 sacks and was fifth in tackles. I see them making a run at him and I see him listening.

Michael Thomas, safety
If the Giants going to keep a veteran or two, Michael Thomas is one of the guys they need to consider. A great locker room guy and an exceptional special teamer. He can also play safety in pinch and he won’t cost much as he likes it here in New York.

David Mayo, linebacker
David Mayo came in and spelled Alec Ogletree and then Ryan Connelly when they were injured and actually played as well, if not better, at times. Mayo had 82 total tackles, second on the team, in 13 starts. He is another valuable special teamer who won’t cost the Giants a lot to hang on to.

Cody Core, wide receiver
When you have a gunner on punts and kickoffs that makes the kind of plays Cody Core can make, you hate to give him up. Granted, he’s a specialist and hard to justify, but again, the specials on this team are solid and why mess with that?

Cody Latimer, wide receiver
Cody Latimer has disappointed for the most part ad a Giant, but he has value. He’s another special teams guy and can add to the offense. His issue has been health and inconsistency but that will go to lowering his price, which the Giants should take advantage of.
