BERHAMPUR: Police on Tuesday arrested five persons in connection with the murder of four members of a family in a clash at Pitala under Hinjili police station limits in Ganjam district on March 22.

The accused persons were identified as Sadhu alias Amiya Kumar Swain (36), Bahanpati alias Bahan Behera (28), Balia alias Dipu Sethi (19), Chitra alias Chitrasen Sethi (19), and Santosh Swain alias Santa (23). All are from Ramchandrapur village under Hinjili police station limits.

Raja Swain (28), his two brothers Sambhu (25) and Pandav (23) and their cousin Chandan (16) were killed in the clash.

Weapons like the wooden handle of a spade, one bamboo stick, an iron angle and two motorcycles have been seized from the accused persons, police said.

The deceased persons were running a fast food outlet at the Pitala Chowk where the incident occurred. The clash followed a heated argument between the deceased and accused over some objectionable comments, said SP (Ganjam) Brijesh Rai.
