5 displaced, including 4 kids, after Chatham fire

Five people, including four children, were displaced from their home after a fire Saturday afternoon at a Chatham apartment building.

The blaze in the 8000 block of South Langley Avenue was extinguished by 2:50 p.m., but was severe enough to make the apartment uninhabitable, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Four children and one adult were displaced.

One firefighter was hospitalized for “a minor eye injury,” fire officials said.

No other injuries were reported.
