5 big Rangers questions answered by fans on Dave King statue, season ticket vow and greatest title debate

Dominant Rangers are cruising to their first title in a decade a with an 18 point lead at the top of the table.

Steven Gerrard's men are on the brink of history and the 55 with an 18-point lead over their Glasgow rivals Celtic.

Barring a huge collapse, it can be argued that this is the greatest title achievement ever for the club.

Do the fans agree? And how would they mark the occasion?

Dave King has been a huge player in the turnaround in the club's fortunes since toiling in the lower leagues of Scotland. Is a statue a fitting tribute?

The season has't been without it's challenges in the midst of the pandemic with Ibrox missing the loyal supporters who have handed over cash for season ticket books.

Will they plow in cash again for next season with the return of fans currently looking unlikely?

Record Sport has asked the burning issues in our big Ibrox poll.

Would winning the 2020/21 season be the greatest title win in the club's history?

Yes - 72 per cent

No -28 per cent

It's hard to argue that the title victory would mark one of Rangers' greatest achievements after a decade in the doldrums. Does it top the Nine In A Row era, Helicopter Sunday, and previously winning the title at Celtic Park in 1999? Well 72 per cent of supporters believe Gerrard's achievement will.

Given his prominent role in the rebuilding of Rangers should the club build a statue of Dave King?

Yes - 54 per cent

No -46 per cent

The former Rangers chairman claimed three years ago that Celtic would eventually fold like a pack of cards. King reckons Celtic became complacent when Rangers were plunged to their nadir and having to restart in the bottom tier of the game after liquidation in 2012 and it was only a matter of time until the revival. Having been a key figure in the rise from away days at Elgin and Brechin, the majority of Rangers fans would like to see his merits recognised with a statue outside Ibrox.

Will Steven Gerrard take his team into the Champions League group stage next season?

Yes - 93 per cent

No -7 per cent

Aside from domestic glory this season, Steven Gerrard has managed to resurrect Rangers as a European force. With their run to the Europa League last 16 to face Bayer Leverkusen last term, with a last 32 clash with Royal Antwerp on the horizon this term, fans believe they can continue to progress. With the title all-but won a run the Light Blues diehards are confident of reaching Europe's elite competition the Champions League.

Do you support the club’s player trading model to sell one or two players at the end of each season even if it means seeing favourites leave?

Yes - 93 per cent

No -7 per cent

James Tavernier, Ryan Kent and Glen Kamara have all been standouts so far this season and will surely have plenty of suitors come the summer transfer window. That's not to mention the likes of Alfredo Morelos who are regularly touted with an Ibrox exit. However, fans seem to have accepted that some of their star names may have to be sold come the end of the campaign if the offer is right.

Will you purchase your season ticket again even if there is uncertainty about fans being able to return to stadia?

Yes - 89 per cent

No -11 per cent

The only disappointment this season for players and fans alike is that they will not be able to watch James Tavernier lift the title at the end of the campaign live in the midst of the Covid crisis. With big money being paid out every year to guarantee a seat among the 50,000 in Govan, is it a commitment fans will make again with it appearing unlikely they will be allowed back in the near future? Well, yes. A whopping 89 per cent of punters polled are planning to renew their ticket for the 2021-22 campaign.
