5. New York Jets at Kansas City
LINE: Kansas City -19.5
ATS PICK: Kansas City
– Bet on this, BetMGM latest line
If you’ve read the college side of this over the years, you’d know there’s a certain theoretical threshold that you just don’t cross.
If someone wants to give you 40 or more points walking into the stadium, you take them. If someone wants to set a point total in the mid-70s, you take the under, and be happy the game was a fun shootout if you’re wrong. Do both of those things every time there’s an opportunity, and you’ll be up over the long haul.
Don’t take an NFL team giving away 20 points.
Ever.
Kansas City opened as a 21-point favorite at home against the Jets, and that was totally ridiculous. This is still an NFL team full of NFL players coming into Arrowhead Stadium, and no one things it’s going to win. But keeping it within three touchdowns? That’s what any NFL team is supposed to do, and …
Take Kansas City. The line dipped down to 19.5, so let’s just throw the principles out the window.
The Jets haven’t scored more than ten points in any of the last three games and haven’t scored more than 17 in any game but the 37-28 loss to Denver. Worse yet, the Jets have lost four of its last six games by 20 points or more.
No, you never take an NFL team giving away 19.5 points no matter what …
Take Kansas City.

NEXT: New Orleans at Chicago
4. New Orleans at Chicago
LINE: New Orleans -4
ATS PICK: Chicago
– Bet on this, BetMGM latest line
There’s nothing about Chicago that suggests it should beat a team as strong as New Orleans.
Its passing game doesn’t work, the rushing attack is the worst in the NFL, and there’s just not enough scoring punch on a consistent basis to keep up any sort of pace.
New Orleans is giving up a ton of passing yards and allowed 17 touchdown passes, but Chicago doesn’t have the pop to take advantage of it. The team might not be the high-flying fun show of the past several years, but it leads the league in third down conversions, and …
Chicago is one of those find-a-way teams.
The defense is fantastic on third downs, the secondary is a rock on key plays in a bend-but-don’t-break way, and the takeaways are there to stay alive.
And yeah, against this Saint secondary, expect a better game from Nick Foles than the clunker against the Rams.

NEXT: Las Vegas at Cleveland
3. Las Vegas at Cleveland
LINE: Cleveland -2.5
ATS PICK: Cleveland
– Bet on this, BetMGM latest line
Las Vegas is supposed to be a tough, physical, old-school team under Jon Gruden, but it’s really, really not.
The running game hasn’t been good enough lately, and the run defense is the worst in the NFL, even though it has allowed fewer than 100 yards in each of the last three games.
Even with the amazing win over Kansas City a few weeks ago, the Raiders aren’t playing well with three losses in the last four games thanks to the rocky D.
Cleveland, on the flip side, is playing well, winning five of its last six with the only loss coming to the Steelers. The running game should be able to pound away, the pass rush has been a killer – Myles Garrett has been unstoppable – and it’s a home game after being on the road the last few weeks.
NEXT: Los Angeles Rams at Miami
2. Los Angeles Rams at Miami
LINE: LA Rams -3.5
ATS PICK: LA Rams
– Bet on this, BetMGM latest line
Joe Burrow had a decent first game as the Cincinnati starter, and his team lost to the Chargers by three.
Justin Herbert was terrific in his first start as the Los Angeles Charger starter, and his team lost to Kansas City by three.
This is Tua Tagovailoa’s first start for a red-hot Miami team that was humming right along before getting a week off. Now it’s changing things up, which means either 1) Tagovailoa really is the better option than Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was playing as well as any NFL starter outside of the elite, or 2) this is the get-the-franchise-guy-going already game.
Miami is rested, it really is playing well, and Tua is going to be special. But in his opener, take the chance that Jalen Ramsey, Aaron Donald, and a strong Ram team will make the new guy screw up just enough to win by more than three.
NEXT: Minnesota at Green Bay
1. Minnesota at Green Bay
LINE: Green Bay -6
ATS PICK: Green Bay
– Bet on this, BetMGM latest line
What about your 2020 Minnesota Vikings would suggest that they’re ready to come up with a big road win over a team that rolled over everyone but Tampa Bay on the road?
Do the Vikings have the defensive front to get to Aaron Rodgers and be a problem for like the Buc front four was? Not really.
Does not having Aaron Jones matter all that much? the Packers rolled by Houston with Jamaal Williams getting the job done for the running game.
Minnesota just lost at home by 17 to Atlanta, and three of its five losses were in relative blowouts …
Including in the opener to Green Bay.
Again, the Packer lost one game to a Tampa Bay team playing as well as anyone outside of Pittsburgh. It won the other five games by double-digits, and all you’re asking for is a six-point home win.
