5. Kansas City at Buffalo

LINE: Kansas City -5
ATS PICK: Buffalo
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Buffalo had a bad night against Tennessee.

Somehow, the Titans got through their funky week with a razor-sharp performance with everything going the right way. Give them credit for making their own breaks, but that 42-16 score was an aberration. The game got away from the Bills, but they actually did a whole lot of things well.

They moved the ball, they continue to be great on third downs, and they weren’t that bad against the run. The three turnovers, though, were a killer. Again, though, that just seemed like a bad day against a team that seemed to have it at home on a weird Tuesday night game.

Kansas City has been off for a few weeks.

The Chiefs lose – probably – to New England had Cam Newton been able to play a few weeks ago, and Las Vegas rolled into town and trucked the defending Super Bowl champs 40-32. All of a sudden, the KC running game doesn’t seem to work, the defense hasn’t been anything great, and the turnovers have been a bit of an issue.

Buffalo is getting five at home on Monday night. Of course the Chiefs could pivot back to the team that destroyed Baltimore on the road in late September, but on the third Monday night game in four, KC will struggle.

At the very least, again, you’re getting points.

Week 6 Expert Picks & Predictions: NFL

NEXT: Cleveland at Pittsburgh

4. Cleveland at Pittsburgh

LINE: Pittsburgh -3.5
ATS PICK: Cleveland
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Is Pittsburgh really 4-0 because it’s that good, or is it 4-0 because it played the Giants, Denver, Houston and Philadelphia? It might be a little of both.

Cleveland didn’t exactly beat anyone with a pulse, and then came last week’s shockingly dominant performance against an Indianapolis team with the – at the time – best defense in the NFL and a nasty offensive front that was punishing everyone. The Browns couldn’t run the ball like they normally do, and it didn’t matter in the 32-23 win.

Pittsburgh’s defense isn’t all that great on third downs, the run defense hasn’t been close to tested yet, and the secondary hasn’t exactly been a rock.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that Pittsburgh is fantastic and spent the first month warming up, and the 3.5 isn’t a lot, but Cleveland is red hot and it’s getting points.

NEXT: New York Jets at Miami

3. New York Jets at Miami

LINE: Miami -9
ATS PICK: Miami
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Do not mess with a streak … do not mess with a streak … do not mess with a streak …

The Jets lost to Denver 37-28, helping make Brett Rypien look like the next John Elway. They played a team with a young quarterback in his first real moment of fun, and they still lost by nine.

They’ve lost by ten or more against everyone else, and the line here is Miami -9.

The Dolphins are shockingly playing really, really well. They gave Seattle a push and Rickrolled Jacksonville and San Francisco on the road within the last three weeks.

Of course it’s the NFL, and of course the any given Sunday cliché always applies, but …

Do not mess with a streak … do not mess with a streak … do not mess with a streak …

NEXT: Houston at Tennessee

2. Houston at Tennessee

LINE: Tennessee -3.5
ATS PICK: Tennessee
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Of course there’s a chance that Houston figured it out.

The coaching change from Bill O’Brien to Romeo Crennel opened up the offense, the passing game finally clicked better, and the team got its first win of the season five games in.

It was against Jacksonville, but it was a win.

Tennessee played Tuesday night, it didn’t practice much the week before, and now it might be just a bit … off.

It certainly wasn’t in the 42-16 win over Buffalo, playing as sharp a game as anyone had all season long, especially considering the circumstances.

But again, Houston beat Jacksonville.

The 3.5 is way low considering this is an unappreciated 4-0 Tennessee team playing with extreme confidence. It managed to hold down the Buffalo running game, it didn’t allow much with the passing attack, and it generated three takeaways. Now, the D is second in the NFL forcing nine turnovers.

The Texans don’t force takeaways – the two against the Jaguars were the first they’ve come up with all year – and Tennessee has only given it up once.

You should like the 4-0 team, you should like it at home, and you should like it only giving up 3.5.

NEXT: Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco

1. Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco

LINE: Los Angeles Rams -3
ATS PICK: Los Angeles Rams
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Of course momentum in the NFL is the next week’s game plan, but what about the San Francisco 49ers lately would lead you to believe they’re ready to beat a team as good as the Rams?

The 49ers were bad when Jimmy Garoppolo was out hurt, they were bad when he came back, and their only two wins of he season came against the really, really, really bad New York Jets and New York Giants, who have combined to win as many games this season as you have.

They’re getting healthier, and Garoppolo is apparently better than he was last week, but can the defense get up off the deck after being destroyed by Miami? Will the Ram D have problems after allowing 19 points or fewer in four of the five games?

Sort of, and no.

You’re only asking for more than a three point win against a team that hasn’t done much of anything so far.
