Diving into the NFL world, the five lines that appear to be a wee bit favorable are …

5. Carolina at Atlanta

LINE: Atlanta -1.5
ATS PICK: Atlanta
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Atlanta is hurt, it’s off, it’s coaching staff is hanging by the barest of threads, it’s winless, it can’t figure out how to win, its defense has been miserable, the running game hasn’t been consistent enough, the offensive line hasn’t been good enough, and …

The Falcons are way overdue.

Look hard at the four losses. Losing to Seattle and this offense isn’t anything to get into a twist over. The Dallas and Chicago games were collapses, and Green Bay might be one of the three best teams in the NFL at the moment. Even so, the the Atlanta passing game was great, the chances were there, and there but for a few breaks the team should be 2-2.

Carolina is playing well defensively, it’s bending but not breaking, and Teddy Bridgewater has been terrific with Christian McCaffrey out, but …

The Falcons are way overdue, and the line is just 1.5, and 1 in some spots.

Week 5 Expert Picks & Predictions: NFL

NEXT: Philadelphia at Pittsburgh

4. Philadelphia at Pittsburgh

LINE: Pittsburgh -7
ATS PICK: Pittsburgh
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Let’s just assume Pittsburgh is going to play like a team with fresh legs.

Philadelphia is still banged up, it’s coming off the trip to San Francisco for the late Sunday game, and there’s that one big problem over everything else.

The Eagles aren’t that great.

They don’t have enough of a passing game to be air-tight against a Pittsburgh secondary that’s been able to bend, but not often break. Good at taking the ball away, now it’s going against Carson Wentz and a passing attack that’s thrown seven picks and just four touchdown passes.

So Philly will just run the ball?  The Steelers allowed 29 rushing yards to both the Giants and Houston and leads the league in run defense.

The seven is a lot in the NFL no matter what, but the Steelers should get there late.

NEXT: Arizona at New York Jets

3. Arizona at New York Jets

LINE: Arizona -7
ATS PICK: Arizona
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Let’s just assume that Joe Flacco isn’t an answer to any question you want to ask.

Le’Veon Bell is expected to be back, and Flacco certainly can’t and won’t be as inept as Sam Darnold, but has the Jet O line improved over the last few days? Nah. Is the Arizona defense solid against the run? Not really, but it’s good enough.

Never mess with a trend. If it goes the other way, tip your cap and go on your way.

The 0-4 Jets have yet to lose a game this year by fewer than ten points. There might be a renewed energy, and Arizona has to make the long road trip, but the New York offense has to prove it can at least generate first downs, much less keep up with Kyler Murray and this bunch.

NEXT: Los Angeles Rams at Washington

2. Los Angeles Rams at Washington

LINE: Los Angeles -7
ATS PICK: Los Angeles
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

There’s a chance Kyle Allen gets the Washington offense going by merely being more accurate and hitting the third down throws that Dwayne Haskins didn’t.

The Rams will take their chances against a backup quarterback.

The Football Team doesn’t have the rushing punch to overcome the lack of a dynamic passing game. Haskins wasn’t great, but he was hardly the only issue for a team that lost three straight with each only by 14 or more.

The Rams have to make the cross-country trip, and the offense hasn’t been nearly as consistent as you might like, and giving away seven on the road is never okay, and …

Assume LA comes up with a stronger offensive performance after sputtering last week at home against the Giants. Jared Goff will have a crisp, efficient game to win this by more than a touchdown.

NEXT: Indianapolis at Cleveland

1. Indianapolis at Cleveland

LINE: PICK
ATS PICK: Indianapolis
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

One caveat here. If you really believe Baker Mayfield is in for a massive game, be a little bit careful here, if not, believe in the Indianapolis style and its lines.

The Colts aren’t pretty. Philip Rivers isn’t winging it all over the yard and Jonathan Taylor has been fine on the ground, but not a killer quite yet. It doesn’t matter with a defense that leads the NFL in total D, pass defense, and is tied with the fewest rushing touchdowns allowed.

Cleveland’s secondary is having a problem slowing down decent passers, Dwayne Haskins threw for over 200 yards – and teams are able to run just enough against the front to be okay.

Can the Colt O line contain Myles Garrett and the terrific Brown pass rush? The pass protection has been phenomenal, but it’s the defense that’s going to pull this off on the road.

Don’t expect fireworks or anything pretty, but the Colts will control the clock, the tempo, and the trenches, holding down the Cleveland ground game enough to pull this off.
