5. New York Jets at New England

LINE: New England -3
ATS PICK: New England
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

That’s pride kicking in.

New England might not be going to the playoffs, and it’s long been out of the Super Bowl hunt, but this is still a team full of players used to doing those big things.

No, you don’t go 6-9 in New England, and there’s a whole ton of rebuilding to do after it all fell apart, but this is still a better, stronger team that it showed over the last three weeks.

It doesn’t help that they played the Rams, Dolphins and Bills – three to the stronger defenses.

Meanwhile, the Jets haven’t been all that bad. They’ve won two straight and should’ve been on a run of three in the last four – the collapse against Las Vegas ruined that – and they’re coming off a brilliant defensive game against a depleted Cleveland that couldn’t get the O going. However …

After being embarrassed on national TV in a 38-9 loss to the Bills, the Patriots are about to close strong. The running game will work, Cam Newton will be fine, and the Patriots will meltdown offensively in the fourth.

Giving away three won’t be an issue.

NEXT: Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs

4. Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City

LINE: LA Chargers -4.5
ATS PICK: LA Chargers
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Kansas City doesn’t need this.

It has the No. 1 seed all wrapped up with means it’ll get a full two weeks for the main man to rest up and get ready for the playoffs.

It’ll be debated about whether or not the team is sharp enough to use this game as a true scrimmage to get the backups some work, but at this point in the season it’s all about rest, rest, and rest.

On the flip side, the Charger team that couldn’t figure out how to win a close game – like the 23-20 overtime loss to the Chiefs back in Week 2 – now can’t seem to lose. It went from 3-9 to on the verge of terrific finishing kick after winning three straight thanks to playing mistake-free, and finally getting timely play, and …

Oh yeah. Chad Henne is playing in place of Patrick Mahomes.

Tyreek Hill is out for the Chiefs along with Clyde Edwards-Helaire. LeVeon Bell is iffy, the receiving corps is losing a slew of parts along with Hill, and everyone is just going through the motions.

Meanwhile, this means something to LA.

NEXT: Minnesota at Detroit

3. Minnesota at Detroit

LINEMinnesota -4
ATS PICK: Minnesota
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

The Vikings are missing Dalvin Cook, who’s out after the passing of his father.

They’re also coming off arguably the worst defensive performance of the season, getting hit for 583 yards by New Orleans and a record-setting day from Alvin Kamara.

The Vikings have lost three straight, the defense has gone bye-bye, and …

Detroit is a whole lot worse.

The Lins are trying, but they came within one total Chicago collapse away from being on a seven game losing streak.

The defense isn’t taking the ball away – there hasn’t been a forced turnover in three games – and worst of all, the pass defense is getting absolutely torched.

The Lions are last in the NFL in TD passes allowed, they’re getting dinked and dunked on to death, and Minnesota is going to all passing, all the time.

Throw in the injury issue with a banged up Matthew Stafford, and even if he does play, the Vikings giving up four in a shootout isn’t that bad.

NEXT: Dallas at New York Giants

2. Dallas at New York Giants

LINEDallas -1.5
ATS PICK: Dallas
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

It’s the game that’s going to make you watch the Sunday night thing.

The winner of this will have to hope Philadelphia can take down Washington, but this is the first part of the puzzle. The loser is out, the winner is still alive until around 11ish ET.

Or, the winner is in.

It’s a road game for Dallas, but that hasn’t been too much of a problem lately. The bigger deal is momentum. The Cowboys are playing well, and the Giants aren’t.

Andy Dalton appears to have found a groove with his receiving corps. It took a while to get here, but the Dallas has one three straight, the offense is clicking, and the defense has gone out of its mind with takeaways, coming up with ten in the last three games.

Meanwhile, the Giants have forced one turnover in the last three games and the team has gone in the tank with 26 points in losses over the last three weeks.

Daniel Jones will be fine for New York – the offense should perk up a bit – but the Giants just don’t have the running game right now and they don’t have the offense. They haven’t hit 30 yards since beating Cincinnati over Thanksgiving weekend.

NEXT: Green Bay at Chicago

1. Green Bay at Chicago

LINE: Green Bay -4
ATS PICK: 49.5
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Green Bay still needs to win this.

It could still be okay – Seattle has to lose – but it’s not going to want to take any chances. It’ll want to do it themselves to get a win and wrap up the 1 seed.

Meanwhile, it’s a win-and-get-in thing for Chicago. It can still get in with an Arizona loss, but the chance is right there to do this at home and do the impossible – beat Green Bay and get this team into the playoffs.

And that’s just what it is. Impossible.

Aaron Rodgers has a way of screwing up the Bears just when the need a game the most. He’ll be without OT David Bakhtiari who tore his ACL against Tennessee, and this is a different and stronger Chicago team than the one that turtled in the 41-25 Packer win just a few weeks ago, but …

The Bear winning streak is a mirage.

CFN Expert Picks: Week 17 NFL

It should be a four-game winning run but it collapsed against Detroit. Beating Houston, running on Minnesota, and taking out Jacksonville is really no big deal. The Bears have one good 20-19 win over Tampa Bay, and that’s it. The rest of the victories have come against the weak and the sad – Tampa Bay is the only team among the eight wins who’s going to the playoffs.

The Chicago line should be fine, but it’s a banged up group. More importantly, the Packers are playing way too well, Rodgers just doesn’t make mistakes – there’s one Green Bay turnover in the last five games – and again, it’s Aaron Rodgers vs. Chicago.

He’s about to wrap up the MVP.
