5 areas where Covid-19 cases are 'suppressed' in Nottinghamshire

An interactive map has shown five Nottinghamshire neighbourhoods where Covid-19 cases are almost completely non-existent.

The map, on the Government's Covid-19 dashboard, breaks down new Covid-19 cases for each individual area of the country.

It is shown as Middle Layer Super Output Areas (MSOAs), which are areas with an average population of 8,000 people used for census-based data.

In the latest map figures, five areas of the county have recorded fewer than three Covid-19 cases in the most recent seven-day period.

In the seven days to February 26, these areas now show up has having 'suppressed' Covid figures.

This means that the active rate of infection and the number of new cases are not available, in order to "protect individuals' identities".

The areas are:

Keyworth South

Cropwell Bishop, Kinoulton & Upper Broughton

Radcliffe on Trent & Shelford

Burton Joyce & Lambley

Tuxford, Markham & Rampton

It comes as Public Health directors estimated the rate of reproduction for Covid-19 to be at around 0.8 and 1.1.

This is taking into account the entire city and the wider county together.

The rate is higher than the national average, which Jonathan Gribbin, the county's public health director said reflected the situation seen in rates across the county.

Mr Gribbin said there was a "high degree of variation" of rates in Nottinghamshire with some areas decreasing and others increasing.
