Another week is in the books and it is time to go around the NFC West to see what is new with the Arizona Cardinals’ division rivals. What is new with the San Francisco 49ers?
There isn’t much, but here are the stories of the week Cardinals fans should know about, coming from sister site Niner Wire.
CB Jason Verrett hopeful for training camp

The talented CB has been hampered by injuries his entire career. He is coming off a torn Achilles last year and signed with the 49ers in the offseason. He anticipates being a full go in training camp when it begins at the end of next month.
Familiar faces on the bubble

The 49ers, like the Cardinals, are on their summer break between the offseason and training camp. There isn’t much in the way of news happening. So there are lots of lists and content speculating about what is to come for the season. As they look ahead to training camp, there will be many players on the roster bubble. Almost all are players Cardinals fans should be familiar with because these players have faced the Cardinals. They include a pair of quarterbacks — C.J. Beathard and Nick Mullens.
Greater expectations for 49ers?

The 49ers were almost as bad as the Cardinals in 2018. They even lost to the Cardinals twice. But there is a little more optimism about their 2019. They are given a 31.8 percent chance to make the postseason.
49ers with something to prove

The Cardinals have a number of players with something to prove in 2019. So do the 49ers. Eight players come to mind, including QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
49ers contract issues coming

The Arizona Cardinals will have gobs of cap space in a year and will not have many contract issues next season. The 49ers do. There are seven issues that will come up in the next year.
