Another week has past and it is time to take a look around the NFC West to see what is going on with the division rivals of the Arizona Cardinals. First, we check in with the San Francisco 49ers. What has been going on with the 49ers?
Here are five stories worth knowing.
Niners cut twice-retired Anthony Davis

Tackle Anthony Davis was attempting to return to the NFL after twice retiring. However, the 49ers will not be the team to give him that chance. They released the former first-round pick and starting right tackle. He retired in 2015 after a concussion limited him in 2014. He tried to return in 2016 only to retire again. With progress made in the league regarding head injuries, he decided to return again but has not played a snap since 2016 in Week 1.
He is 29 years old.
Kwon Alexander should be ready for training camp

Alexander, a linebacker, was San Francisco’s big free agent prize in the offseason. However, he is coming off a torn ACL he suffered in October. He still has not practiced during OTAs but defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said Alexander should be ready to practice by training camp.
Rookie punter impressing early on

The 49ers lost punter Bradley Pinion in free agency to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and used a fourth-round draft pick to select Mitch Wishnowsky. It will always raise eyebrows when a team used a mid-round pick to select a kicker or punter.
However, he has been impressive in practice so far, dropping punts with regularity inside the 10-yard line.
Tarvarius Moore back at safety

San Francisco had high hopes for defensive back Tarvarius Moore. An athletic freak who played safety in college, they hoped to move him to cornerback. That hasn’t worked out and he is working again at safety, his natural position. He practiced with the second team in OTAs.
Watch out for Niners D-line?

The Niners made two big additions to their defensive line by trading for Dee Ford and drafting Nick Bosa. According to Pro Football Focus, their defensive line is the most improved in the league.
