4th Test: England build lead as India strike back on Day 3

NEW DELHI: The hosts fought back with wickets at regular intervals as England's lead surged to 166 runs at tea on the third day in the ongoing fourth Test between India and England on Sunday.

Ravichandran Ashwin emerged as the chief destructor for India, claiming three wickets in quick succession to put England on the back foot. However, opener Zak Crawley's resilient innings of 60 from 91 balls, including seven boundaries, anchored England's charge.

Scorecard: India vs England 4th Test

England's batting lineup faced setbacks with opener Ben Duckett (15), Ollie Pope (1), skipper Joe Root (11), and Ben Stokes (4) departing within the session's play, leaving them at 120/5 at tea.

Contributing to India's bowling effort, Kuldeep Yadav also picked up two crucial wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja, despite bowling well, was unfortunate with a few decisions not falling in his favor.

Earlier in the day, India was bowled out for 307 runs in their first innings, with Dhruv Jurel narrowly missing out on his maiden century.

Jurel's spirited knock of 90 from 149 balls, comprising six fours and four sixes, provided India with a valuable contribution before they were dismissed.

Brief scores: England 353 & 120/5 in 33 overs (Zak Crawley 60; Ravichandran Ashwin 3/48, Kuldeep Yadav 2/10) lead India 307 by 166 runs.
