4th T20I: Devon Conway ruled out against Pakistan due to COVID

NEW DELHI: Hours before the match in Christchurch on Friday, New Zealand's opener Devon Conway was declared out of the fourth Twenty20 International against Pakistan due to a positive COVID-19 test.

"Conway has been in isolation at the team's Christchurch hotel after testing positive yesterday," New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said in a statement.

"He will continue to be monitored ahead of Sunday's final match against Pakistan."

Chad Bowes, a batter with the Canterbury Kings, will be added to the team to relieve Conway.

NZC also reported that Andre Adams, a bowling coach, tested positive for COVID-19.

For the same reason, spinner Mitchell Santner, who is captaining New Zealand in lieu of injured regular skipper Kane Williamson, was unable to attend the opening game of the series.

As Shaheen Afridi takes charge as Pakistan's T20 captain, the series now stands at five matches with a commanding 3-0 advantage for New Zealand.
