Another suspect affiliated with an insurgent group was arrested in Pattani on Monday in connection with a series of car robberies and hostage-taking in the far South last week.
The 30-year-old man, a member of the Runda Kumpulan Kecil (RKK) group, was identified as Marohyee Radaeng of Songkhla. He was detained by a joint force of Yarang police and local ranger units after laying low at his wife's house in Yarang district.
Mr Marohyee is the fourth suspect to be arrested in the case, along with three others whose have been withheld. They have been held without warrants.
Police believe he was involved in stealing vehicles in Songkhla's Na Thawi district on Aug 16. Six pickup trucks were stolen from the Wangto Car Centre, a Songkhla car dealership.
Four people were abducted including the proprietor and several employees. One of the hostages was killed by the gunmen while the rest escaped.
Mr Marohyee was later taken to Yarang police station. DNA samples were collected and he was questioned by the 43rd ranger unit, police said.
Authorities took four days to compile evidence and interview witnesses. This led to the approval of 11 arrest warrants for six suspects on charges include terrorism, collecting firearms, conspiring to commit murder and the illegal detention of others.
The six suspects are Attanan Sa-i, 36, Sulaiman Samoh, 35, Bukholi Lamso, 28, Sareesanamri Tueramae, 35, Rosari Lamso, 26, and Abdulloh Madae. The warrants were approved based on crime-scene DNA samples.
