49ers vs. Rams earns non-local coverage on FOX broadcast map

Sunday’s 49ers-Rams game probably could’ve gotten flexed into the Sunday night slot. NBC opted instead to keep the Steelers-Chargers matchup on Sunday Night Football, so San Francisco and Los Angeles will have to settle for some scattered national attention.

The FOX broadcast map shows the 49ers and Rams airing through most of California and Nevada,  along with areas of the South and Midwest. Here’s the map via 506 Sports:

Green shows where the 49ers and Rams will air. Blue is Seahawks-Browns, red is Eagles-Vikings, yellow is Falcons-Cardinals, and orange is Washington-Dolphins. San Francisco and LA will only compete with the Falcons and Cardinals in the afternoon games.

It’s easy to imagine the 49ers and Rams’ next matchup in Santa Clara Week 16 getting into a national TV slot.

This Week 6 matchup won’t even pull the Rams past the 49ers in the standings. LA sits 1.5 games back of San Francisco in the standings.  Their Week 16 showdown could wind up deciding who hosts a playoff game.

If the 49ers keep winning though, their coverage nationally will surely grow, and their potential to land in prime time will climb as well.
