49ers training camp start date announced

The 49ers will open their 2019 training camp on July 26 according to a release from the NFL posted on Twitter by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

San Francisco’s rookies and veterans will report the same day. Teams generally have their rookies arrive early for additional work. A full schedule of training camp dates still hasn’t been announced by the team.

This officially sets a deadline for first-year players Nick Bosa and Deebo Samuel to sign their rookie contracts. The first- and second-round picks are the only two 49ers selections from this year’s draft that haven’t signed yet. Rookie contracts have set years and dollar amounts, but specific language within the contract can hold up the official signing. They won’t be able to participate in camp until they sign those deals.

The 49ers open their preseason schedule on August 10 at home against the Cowboys.
