49ers tight end George Kittle gifts Super Bowl 54 tickets to family of Army vet killed in Iraq

The San Francisco 49ers are embracing their appearance in Super Bowl LIV. Tight end George Kittle is doing his best to make sure others partake in the experience, too.

The All-Pro has gifted a pair of tickets to the Feb. 2 game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, (FL) to the family of a soldier who lost his life serving the country.

Army Sgt. Martin “Mick” LaMar from Sacramento was killed in 2011 at the age of 43 by an Iraqi soldier he had been training. LaMar died on his wedding anniversary. It also was the day he was scheduled to deploy home from Iraq.

Lamar left behind a wife and five children. His widow, Josephine, and his only son, Nicolas, will make the trip to Miami to attend the game. Kittle said when he takes the field he’ll find comfort in knowing that 49ers fans, the LaMar family will be there watching.

The gesture was greeted warmly.
