49ers sign familiar face, DE Damontre Moore

The 49ers on Wednesday announced the addition of a familiar face along the defensive line. Former Giants third-round Damontre Moore signed a one-year deal with San Francisco after being signed in April and released by them in May.

Moore originally signed a deal with the 49ers shortly after the Alliance of American Football disbanded. He was a defensive end for the San Diego Fleet and posted 22 tackles and 7.0 sacks in eight games.

Prior to that, Moore spent two-plus seasons with the Giants after they took him in the third round of the 2013 draft. He also spent part of a season with Dolphins, and one year each with the Seahawks, Cowboys and Raiders. His 2018 campaign in Oakland included one tackle in two games. He has 10 career sacks, but none since tallying 0.5 in 2016 for the Seahawks.

This could be an indicator that the 49ers don’t believe defensive end Nick Bosa will have his rookie contract signed by training camp. It might also be a depth addition at an important spot for training camp.

The 49ers report to camp Friday, and their first practice is scheduled for Saturday.
