A rough preseason continued Thursday night for 49ers safety Adrian Colbert. He didn’t get into the preseason finale until late after dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him from playing regular snaps. He re-aggravated that hamstring injury during the third quarter against the Chargers. He won’t return according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Colbert entered the offseason with a shot to land a starting job. He looked like a pretty firm lock to make the roster too. However, a poor preseason pushed him down the depth chart, and injuries could wind up pushing him off the roster entirely.
The 49ers have a ton of tough decisions to make on the 53-man roster, and Colbert’s preseason woes won’t make their safety cuts any easier.
