49ers officially sign LS Taybor Pepper, tender 1-year deal to WR Jauan Jennings

The 49ers on Tuesday announced a pair of roster moves before the new league year. They officially signed long snapper Taybor Pepper to a three-year deal, and they tendered a one-year contract for exclusive rights free agent wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

Pepper announced his three-year agreement over the weekend. The deal will keep him in red and gold through the 2025 season. He originally joined the club during the 2020 season while they dealt with some long snapper issues. He hasn’t missed a game since he arrived.

Jennings is an ERFA, so the 49ers had to tender him a contract to keep him from going to the free agent market. Unlike with restricted free agency, Jennings can’t explore the market now that a contract has been tendered. He reached ERFA status instead of RFA status because he’s only accrued two pro seasons. His rookie year in 2020 was spent on the practice squad.

The 49ers have leaned hard on Jennings as the third WR over the last couple of seasons. In those two years he’s played in 32 games and posted 59 catches, 698 yards and six touchdowns. 38 of his 59 receptions have gone for either a first down or a touchdown.
