The 49ers’ plans after their trade up to the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft have been shrouded in secrecy. The ambiguity about who they’re going to pick has put them at the forefront of this year’s NFL draft headlines. It’s also put them at the forefront of the betting market.
According to the Action Network, who the 49ers select with the third pick is the most wagered on draft pick of all-time at a number of books.
Mac Jones’ name was quickly tied to the 49ers, which launched him into the fold alongside fellow quarterbacks Trey Lance and Justin Fields.
The market has been all over the place and ebbed and flowed along with the national conversation. Jones was the favorite. Fields spent time as the favorite after his second Pro Day, and then Lance’s odds dropped precipitously ahead of his second Pro Day.
Now the action has pushed Jones to the heavy favorite with Lance in second and Fields as distant third after reports surfaced Jones and Lance are the only two left in the running for the pick.
