49ers, Kwon Alexander to set ILB market for C.J. Mosley at $13.5M per year

The Baltimore Ravens are looking to re-sign linebacker C.J. Mosley this offseason. However, a pending deal between the San Francisco 49ers and linebacker Kwon Alexander might help price Baltimore out of the running for Mosley this offseason.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 49ers are set to sign Alexander to a four-year deal worth $54 million. That puts Alexander at the top of the pile among inside linebackers with a $13.5 million-per-year. Given Alexander’s stat sheet and injury history, it’s expected Mosley will earn significantly more when he eventually signs his contract this offseason.

Over four seasons with the Buccaneers, Alexander has missed 18 games. He’s fresh off a six-game season where he had only one sack and 45 combined tackles. Pro Football Focus gave him a 59.1 overall defensive grade for the 2018 season. Alexander tore his ACL in October last season.

On the flip side, Mosley is coming off his fourth Pro Bowl season out of five years. He started 15 games in 2018, with one interception, five passes defensed, a half sack and 105 combined tackles. In addition, Mosley has missed only three games over five seasons.
