The 49ers suffered a bad loss in their secondary late in Week 3 against the Steelers. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon was carted off with a foot injury and is officially listed as questionable to return.
His exit allowed cornerback Jason Verrett, who signed as a free agent this offseason after spending his first five years with the Chargers, to enter the game at corner.
The oft-injured corner is coming off an Achilles tear and was inactive the first two weeks with an ankle injury.
