49ers injury report: Nick Bosa, Jimmie Ward questionable vs. Bengals

The 49ers go into an important Week 2 matchup with a couple injury concerns on defense. Nick Bosa did return to practice Friday in a limited fashion, and Jimmie Ward was limited all week while he wore a blue non-contact jersey in his return from a broken finger.

Their statuses following Friday’s practice are up in the air. Ward would be a more manageable loss for the 49ers. He’s backing up starting free safety Tarvarius Moore. He’s also down the depth chart at corner and nickel corner.

Bosa is not only expected to start, but he’s supposed to be an impact player right away. He was good in his debut despite being hampered by ankle injury. That ankle was sore throughout the week after he played 38 snaps in the regular season opener against the Buccaneers.

Here’s the official injury report released by the team:

Out

RB Tevin Coleman (ankle)
WR Trent Taylor (foot)
WR Jalen Hurd (back)

Questionable

DE Nick Bosa (ankle)
DB Jimmie Ward (finger)
