The 49ers’ first official injury report of the year included a handful of key names that were limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Nick Bosa, Dante Pettis, Weston Richburg, Jason Verrett and K’Waun Williams were all limited. Joe Staley, Jalen Hurd and Trent Taylor were all absent from the session.
Staley got a veteran’s day off. Hurd is still nursing a back injury, while Taylor continues recovering from foot surgery.
There aren’t any major surprises on the first injury report of the year. That’s good news for San Francisco. All five limited participants are expected to be pretty significant contributors though, so it’ll be worth monitoring their progress throughout the week.
The 49ers have been hopeful they’d have those limited participants back by Week 1, but a limited session Wednesday puts at least a modicum of doubt they’ll be available Sunday in Tampa Bay.
It’s still early in the week though. We’ll keep track of this up through Friday’s practice, at which point we should have a little more clarity on availability for the opener.
