49ers injury report: Dee Ford returns to practice, questionable vs. Steelers

It looks like San Francisco will go into their home opener against the Steelers with a full stable of pass rushers. Dee Ford was back in practice Friday after missing the first two days with a quad injury. He’s officially listed as questionable for Sunday.

Nick Bosa followed a similar path to Ford’s in Week 2, and he wound up playing on an ankle injury. Bosa missed Wednesday and Thursday, was limited Friday, then played vs. the Bengals the following Sunday.

San Francisco has a bye week following their showdown with the Steelers, so getting that extra week off may influence whether the 49ers decide to play Ford against the Steelers. It’s likely we won’t know until game time whether his quad is healthy enough to play some snaps Sunday.

Here’s the official injury report for Sunday:

Out

RB Tevin Coleman (ankle)
OT Joe Staley (fibula)
WR Jalen Hurd (back)
WR Trent Taylor (foot)

Questionable

DE Nick Bosa (ankle)
DE Dee Ford (quad)
SS Jaquiski Tartt (toe)
FS Jimmie Ward (finger)
