49ers inactives: Jason Verrett inactive in 1st game with 49ers

The 49ers’ first list of inactives came without any real surprises. Jimmie Ward, Trent Taylor and Jalen Hurd were all ruled out after Friday’s practice. Ward broke his finger during the week, Taylor is still recovering from foot surgery, and Hurd is dealing with a back injury.

Here is who won’t suit up for them in the season opener in Tampa Bay:

QB CJ Beathard
WR Trent Taylor
WR Jalen Hurd
DB Jimmie Ward
DB Jason Verrett
OL Daniel Brunskill
TE Kaden Smith

Last year’s club dealt with a slew of injuries, so getting into the first week relatively healthy is a minor victory for San Francisco since they spent so much of the offense focusing on injury prevention and maintenance.

Nick Bosa, Weston Richburg, K’Waun Williams and Verrett were all questionable going into the game. Bosa, Richburg and Williams should play key roles for San Francisco. Verrett is still recovering from an ankle injury and could see a role once he’s back healthy.

Staying healthy throughout the year will be key for the 49ers’ success, and they’re in good shape in that realm to start the season.
