The 49ers’ list of inactives for Week 3 didn’t come with many surprises. They ruled out five players in Friday’s injury report. The only real question was whether cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon would suit up after appearing on the injured list as ‘questionable.’ He was on the inactives list and will not play Sunday vs. the New York Giants.

Witherspoon’s absence makes it so six out of seven players out for the 49ers are starters.
Jason Verrett will likely get the starting nod in his place, with Dontae Johnson and Ken Webster providing depth off the bench. For Verrett, it’ll be his first start since Sept. 11, 2017.
