49ers host WR Elijah Harper for private workout

The 49ers are going deep to do homework on this year’s wide receiver class in the NFL draft. They had a private workout with Adams State WR Elijah Harper per the Draft Network’s Justin Melo.

Harper is a big possession receiver at 6-3, 203 pounds. He doesn’t bring a ton of speed though, logging a 4.76 in the 40-yard dash with a 1.75 10-yard split according to the Athletic.

The Stockton, Calif. native played for two years at Adams State after beginning his college career with the College of San Mateo. In 22 games after transferring he hauled in 94 receptions for 1,412 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also returned 27 kicks, including one for a touchdown.

With a bulk of their picks late in the draft, San Francisco is wise to look deep into the class, though Harper may be a player who can be signed as an undrafted free agent.

His size, productivity and ability to return kicks make him an interesting name to watch for the 49ers.
