The season couldn’t have gotten off to a better start for the defense. They earned a three-and-out behind three stops from their linebackers, and then backup linebacker Mark Nzeocha came up with a huge play.
He blocked Bradley Pinion’s punt, and came up with a tackle to end the play and give the 49ers great starting field position.
These are the kind of plays the 49ers didn’t make last year. They converted the good field position into a field goal and a 3-0 lead.
