The 49ers added running back Brandon Wilds on Saturday just hours ahead of their preseason opener. Typically players added on game day don’t see any action. Wilds apparently learned enough of the offense to get a carry in the second quarter.
An injury to running back Raheem Mostert opened the door for Wilds to get some early snaps. The four-year veteran made the most of his first carry. He took a handoff on second-and-3 for 15 yards, punishing a Cowboys defender in the process.
His run helped set up the lone touchdown of the first half that gave the 49ers a 7-6 lead.
