49ers' Darnell Dockett puts his desert home on the block

April 09--New San Francisco 49er Darnell Dockett is ready to say goodbye to an old address.

The defensive lineman, who joined the 49ers as a free agent in March after more than a decade with the Arizona Cardinals, has put his home in Chandler, Ariz., on the market for $949,000.

Built in 2006, the desert dwelling has 4,894 square feet of living space, including a chef's kitchen with a tiered island, a great room, a den/office, six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. Travertine flooring and raised interiors with groin vault ceilings are among the distinguishing features of the Tuscan-inspired residence.

Other amenities include a home theater with wet/snack bar and a guest casita. A fireplace, a soaking tub and a double-height closet with a shoe ladder highlight the master suite.

Outdoors, an extended patio covers a built-in grill station and large entertainer's space. Adjacent is a pool and spa with a waterfall feature. A courtyard sits off of the front of the home.

The NFL veteran purchased the home in 2006 for $1.4 million, records show. David Khalaj of Realty Executives is the listing agent.

Dockett, a three-time Pro Bowler, was released by the Cardinals in February after the two sides failed to come to a new contract agreement. The 33-year-old, who missed all of last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, would have carried a $9.8-million salary cap number for Arizona this year.

His two-year deal with San Francisco will pay him $4 million this season, $2 million of which is guaranteed.
