The number of positive coronavirus figures in Scotland has risen again as 48 cases were identified overnight.

The latest Scottish Government figures revealed there have now been zero deaths related to the killer virus for the last 24 days but the total number of confirmed cases is now 18,938.

261 people are currently being treated in hospital with three in intensive care.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in Scotland remains at 2,491.

On Saturday, health chiefs confirmed the coronavirus cluster in Aberdeen had reached 110 cases - while the number of people asked to self-isolate has doubled overnight.

The number of cases in the coronavirus cluster in Aberdeen now stands at 134.

The health board says 728 close contacts of detected cases in the cluster have been identified, and will be required to self-isolate.

Meanwhile, the Sunday Mail today revealed that staff at the country’s biggest pub chain failed to ask for customers’ details after Nicola Sturgeon ordered a crackdown amid fears bars were  Covid-19 hotspots.

A probe visited licensed premises to establish if venues were observing guidance to help lower infection rates.

Scotland’s largest pub chain, JD Wetherspoon, asked for details in just two out of the seven branches we visited.

Leading virologist Professor Hugh Pennington described the findings as “inexcusable.”
