47% of employees have been paid late or incorrectly

47% of employees have been paid late or incorrectly, and of these 11% have waited over a month. Another 13% were forced to wait until their next paycheck for this to be rectified.

New research by Caxton shows that Brits would need to be owed £327.50 before speaking up, but 14% admitted they care less about the quality of their work when owed money by their employers.

Being paid late or incorrectly could force many Brits into dangerous situations – 17% say they would have to pay for everything on credit, 29% would sink deep into their overdrafts and almost a THIRD (32%) would be left unable to pay their rent or mortgage.

Caxton Founder & CEO Rupert Lee-Browne, said: “It is truly awful that 29% of those surveyed currently can’t sleep with worry. It is obvious to me that in order to get the best out of your staff, you must always seek to empower them."

The data also found that 9% of Brits admitted their alcohol intake has increased as a coping mechanism against stress, and over 1 in 20 (6%) have considered resorting to illegal means of making money.
